Rare record to western part of Kazakhstan. Prior to this, two birds were observed in Kenderli on May 6, 2009 (Neve et al., 2010), one bird - in the northern Caspian on April 10, 2015 (Karpov, 2015).

A rare morph of the Black-throated Thrush Turdus atrogularis var. relictа, occurring within Kazakhstan during the passage and summer time in the Central and Southern Altai (Kovshar 2005; Kolbintsev 2005; Berezovikov, Alekseev 2013; Berezovikov 2007, 2013), in winter in the lower reaches of the Bukhtarma (Berezovikov, Rekuts 2021), as well as in the south - in Aksu - Dzhabagly (Sanzhar Abdikhalyk, see the gallery birds.kz).

A rare record for Semey, where this species was last recorded only in 1922 (Selevin 1926). Pallas's Rosefinch periodically appear in winter in the Altai foothills in the Irtysh valley of the East Kazakhstan region. Winter records are known in 2018 between Semey and Ust-Kamenogorsk in the village of Tavricheskoye (Berezovikov 2018). // Березовиков Н.Н. 2018. A rare record for the Teniz-Korgalzhyn region, recently described and separated as a new subspecies of the Black Redstart Phoenicurus ochruros murinus (Fedorenko, 2018). Probably, the available rare encounters that do not belong to the European subspecies refer specifically to Ph. o. murinus.

For the first time recorded in the Balkhash region and in general in the south-east of Kazakhstan. The Pied Flycatcher occurs on migration mostly in Western Kazakhstan, since 1999, 1-3 birds have been regularly observed in Karazhar and Korgalzhyn (Koshkin 2017), two spring records in the east of Kazakhstan in Ust-Kamenogorsk and Serebryansk are also known (see gallery this website).

Eurasian Wryneck (Jynx torquilla)

First found nesting in the Kostanay region. Eurasian Wryneck breeds in Ural valley (in south to Budarino village), Ilek valley, on Kokchetav upland, in Irtysh valley, on Southwest Altai and Southern Altai. (Gavrilov 1999). For the Naurzum Nature Reserve, it is listed as a rare migrant (Bragin 2017). It is worth noting that before that, the Eurasian Wryneck was photographed in the summer period in the Kostanay region near the village of Nadezhdinka on July 10, 2015 (Yuri Malkov, birds.kz).

A rare record for the Kazakh part of Altai. In total, three summer finds of Zoothera varia are known, concentrated on the Ivanovsky and Tigiretsky ridges: a singing male on June 13, 2003 (Panov, Karpov 2003), a juvenile on July 7, 2019, and a young bird on August 7, 2020 (Bolbotov 2020), and only one autumn - September 19, 2010 in Ust-Kamenogorsk (Loginova, Loginov 2011). The next record on May 9, 2021 on the southern slope of the Ulba ridge suggests that it is settling in the direction of the Bukhtarma Valley. (N.N.Berezovikov, written communication).

The first reliable record of the Great Black-backed Gull on the territory of Kazakhstan. There are indications of finds of this gull in the Caspian Sea between the mouths of the Volga and the Urals, as well as near Omsk (Dolgushin 1962). Vagrant are known to the Makhachkala region (Tatarinkova 1970).

A rare vagrant species for Kazakhstan. On February 27 and 28, two birds kept in the thickets of silverberries near the village of Uzynagash (43 km west of Almaty). This is the sixth record of the Dusky Thrush for Kazakhstan. Records of this species are known for the Syrdarya, near the village of Dzhulek (October 16, 1927), near Almaty (February 16, 2013), as well as Ust-Kamenogorsk (October 14 and 16, 2016), Kurgaldzhino (May 7, 2020).

The first record of Pygmy Cormorant in Almaty in general and, in particular, during the winter. The expansion of the Pygmy Cormorant to the northeast concerns not only the probable nesting area, but also the wintering grounds. The nearest winter finds are Sorbulak and Taldykorgan (winter 2017-18, one bird each). In this connection, it is worth noting a significant number of birds in the Almaty (40) and Sorbulak (20) records this winter.

First winter record for Sorbulak (-10 ° С). Before that, the latest sighting at Sorbulak was on November 24, 2006 (3 birds, Belyalov, Karpov, 2013). The third record of the species for the Katon-Karagai state national nature park and the fourth for the Southern Altai. Before single birds were seen during spring migration and in winter on April 30 and December 11, 2005 in the gardens of the village Katon-Karagai (Starikov 2006, Chelyshev 2006), as well as on December 3, 2018, two robins were seen in the northern spurs of the Narym ridge (Berezovikov 2019).

The first photo registration of the species in the eastern part of Kazakhstan. This exclusively seagull in Kazakhstan occurs in spring mainly in the Caspian Sea (Kondratenko 2015, Mishchenko, Karpov 2016, www.birds.kz). Outside the Caspian Sea, autumn vagrants on the river are known Chu river November 1, 1928 and Issyk-Kul October 10, 1932 (Dolgushin 1962a), Tengiz on November 9, 2002 (Koshkin 2002), in the Karkaralinsk area on December 7, 2008 a dead bird was found (Reznichenko 2010a).
